Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon comes to the cage accompanied by Dark Tranquillity - Iridium. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 2, fighting out of New York, Joey Dixon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Ventura! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A chopping leg kick lands by Ventura. Dixon fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ventura to the ground. Dixon is now in Ventura's guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Dixon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ventura is trying to control the position but Dixon postures up. Dixon is working Ventura over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Ventura tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dixon's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Dixon is working Ventura over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! Ventura working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dixon. Ventura controls Dixon momentarily but Dixon frees himself. Dixon throwing strikes but missing. Ventura is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dixon defends well. Dixon landing some decent shots from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ventura wants to stand but Dixon is controlling the position. Dixon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Dixon throws a big elbow that misses. Ventura working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dixon. Dixon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Dixon is looking to work some ground and pound but Ventura has wrist control. Dixon trying to control the position from guard on top but Ventura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dixon is really struggling to control Ventura but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joey Dixon. Ventura ducks under a wild hook from Dixon. Ventura sizes up Dixon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Ventura lands with an overhand left. Ventura gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dixon trying to control the position from guard on top but Ventura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dixon wants to pass the guard but Ventura is keeping the position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Dixon distracts Ventura with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Dixon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ventura looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dixon is one step ahead there. Dixon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ventura tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ventura keeping moving, preventing Dixon from controlling successfully. Dixon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Dixon trying to control but Ventura is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joey Dixon. Dixon moves out of range of the body kick from Ventura.
Ventura misses with a leg kick. Dixon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dixon dips to his left and cracks Ventura with an uppercut! Ventura takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. A clash of legs there as Dixon blocks the low kick. Ventura keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dixon. Ventura has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ventura there as he acknowledges the shot. Ventura throws a low kick, looking for Dixon's leg but Dixon calmly moves out of range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dixon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Dixon looking to sit in guard and control but Ventura gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Dixon wants to stand but Ventura is controlling the position. Ventura trying to control but Dixon is working from the bottom. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Dixon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Dixon dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ventura swats away the attempt to clinch by Dixon. Ventura avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ventura bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Ventura lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A head kick misses from Ventura. Dixon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ventura as he avoids it easily. A jab from Dixon misses. Ventura does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Ventura tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. No luck with that takedown attempt from Dixon. Dixon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ventura quickly recovers to half guard. Ventura tries to roll over but Dixon keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ventura has his hands clasped together around Dixon's back. He's all about the action. Dixon frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dixon avoids the attempt from Ventura to control. Dixon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Dixon breaks from Ventura's wrist control and lands an elbow. Dixon landing strikes from the mount. Ventura takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Ventura is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dixon is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Ventura is forced to tap! Great finish!
