Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Andre Luis Barral! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexei Shepel! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shepel leaves Barral with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Barral changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shepel tries to avoid it but Barral manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shepel to the ground. Shepel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Barral fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Luis Barral. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barral fails with the takedown and Shepel counters with an outside leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Shepel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shepel wants it to stay on the feet. Shepel will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

That was a close round but I would say that Andre Luis Barral will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barral gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Shepel wants to get back to his feet.
Shepel is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Barral has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Shepel defend it? Barral steps over the head and cranks it - Shepel is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Barral!
