Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ludwig Mandrill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mandrill comes to the cage accompanied by Luigi's song. Ludwig Mandrill has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Mandrill checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Mandrill pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A punch combination from Lawler misses.
Mandrill misses with a wild body shot.
Lawler takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


It looks like Melvin Lawler has been cut.
Lawler swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lawler misses with a few strikes there.

and Mandrill counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Lawler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mandrill is working away from the top position though.
Mandrill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lawler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mandrill in particular looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mandrill is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lawler.

Lawler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mandrill doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mandrill manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lawler can't keep his opponent in guard - Mandrill advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Mandrill postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Lawler badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Mandrill around the waist but Mandrill pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Mandrill is the winner by TKO! Mandrill jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ludwig Mandrill!
Ludwig Mandrill decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
