Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rob Shawn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fu Blue!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shawn dives in and grabs Blue's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blue pushes down on Shawn's head and hops out.
Shawn avoids the head kick by Blue.
Shawn tried to score with a low kick but Blue checks it.
Shawn closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Shawn drops down looking for an ankle pick but Blue pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shawn misses with a head kick.
Shawn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blue but Blue pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Shawn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shawn tries to clinch
enabling Blue to counter with a crisp jab.
Shawn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Blue throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick by Shawn misses
and Blue counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Shawn is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The crowd cheers as Blue lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shawn doesn't seem phased though.
Shawn is rocked!
Rob Shawn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Blue.
Oh Shawn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shawn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Blue avoids it really well and circles away.
Shawn shoots in but no luck this time.
Blue is looking to slow Shawn down with leg kicks.
Shawn seems to have got his legs back now.
Shawn throws a sloppy head kick and Blue moves out of range easily.
Shawn throws a lazy head kick
and Blue counters with a head kick that wobbles Shawn - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Blue sends him down. This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fu Blue!
