Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Shaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, carlos Escudero ! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw misses with a low kick.
Escudero looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Shaw tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shaw fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Escudero . No joy for Shaw on that attempt. Shaw fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shaw could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Some bone on bone action there as Escudero checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Shaw bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Shaw moves into full mount! Shaw lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Escudero hang on? Escudero takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Shaw is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Escudero has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Shaw looking to secure an arm triangle but Escudero defends it well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Escudero is working to get back to half guard.
Escudero wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Shaw.
Shaw lands a nice shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaw is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Escudero is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Escudero flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Shaw anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Escudero and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Shaw slips an arm under Escudero chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Shaw has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Shaw is squeezing on Escudero like an anaconda would it's prey. Escudero fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jason Shaw!
