PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chis Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Sirenni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chis Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy Sirenni!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sirenni manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hall wants to stand but Sirenni is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hall advances to half guard.

Hall is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sirenni tries to kick Hall off but Hall keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Hall perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sirenni wants to improve his position but Hall is controlling well.
Hall thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hall takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Chis Hall wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hall misses with a takedown attempt - Sirenni sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Sirenni is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hall's half guard.
Sirenni prevents Hall from standing back up.
Hall is refusing to be controlled, as Sirenni sits in half guard.
Sirenni really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sirenni is pressing down on Hall's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hall is holding on for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sirenni wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hall keeps working.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tommy Sirenni hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hall is looking to clinch.
Sirenni shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head kick misses from Sirenni.
Sirenni tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sirenni bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hall's head backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sirenni looking to score a takedown here. Hall is defending well but Sirenni drives through and ends up in Hall's guard.
Sirenni being controlled here momentarily.
Hall bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sirenni's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sirenni is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hall advances position into side control!
Hall tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hall is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sirenni will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Sirenni is looking to regain half guard here but Hall keeps moving and retains side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall advances to full mount.
Sirenni is wriggling around trying to escape.

Hall jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sirenni manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Hall wants to stand but Sirenni has his arm trapped.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sirenni is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chis Hall will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Sirenni shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hall as he avoids it easily.
Hall defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sirenni.

Hall moves into the clinch.

Sirenni has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hall is trying to keep an underhook but Sirenni manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Hall controlling the position well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall is staying active underneath Sirenni, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hall manages to get to full guard.
Hall controlling Sirenni's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hall keeping moving, preventing Sirenni from controlling successfully.

Hall is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sirenni has his hands clasped together but Hall extends an breaks Sirenni's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hall.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Chis Hall!
