Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Malham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malham comes into a darkened arena with his song building. John's Walkout kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John Malham is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Malham!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okabe misses with an uppercut

and Malham counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Malham.

Malham is fighting off a takedown attempt but Okabe is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Malham to the mat. Malham regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Okabe forces his way into half guard.
Okabe trying to control the action but Malham is working from the bottom.
Okabe thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Malham's head.
Okabe is keen to just control but Malham is a slippery customer.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Okabe lands a nice short elbow.
Okabe prevents Malham from improving his position.
Okabe missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Malham is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Okabe scores with a couple of nice shots.
Malham is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Okabe looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Malham actively working from the bottom here.
Malham is pressing down on Okabe's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Okabe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Malham looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Malham is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Okabe is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Malham not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Okabe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Malham's head.
Malham throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Malham looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Okabe passes into half guard.
Okabe passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Malham!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Okabe has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Malham's face.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Malham is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
A nice elbow there by Okabe.
Okabe with a couple of short strikes.
Okabe lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Malham hang on?


Malham is rocked!
Okabe lands a big shot to the head and Malham winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Kenji Okabe!
An out of breath Kenji Okabe thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
