PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mario Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Miller told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jeff Miller!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hawk looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Hawk throws his legs up looking for a submission but Miller uses it to pass to side control.
Miller trying to control the action but Hawk is working from the bottom.
Hawk managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Miller.
Miller works to advance to full mount. Hawk defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Miller looking to ground and pound but Hawk is blocking nicely.
Hawk is squirming around, avoiding Miller's attempts to control the action.
Miller punching from mount but Hawk doing a good job of avoiding damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller tries to control but Hawk wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Hawk is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Miller can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hawk is looking to escape.
Hawk is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Miller tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller trying to control but Hawk is having none of it.
Hawk really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hawk is trying to reverse the position but instead Miller has taken his back - oops!
Miller connects with a big shot to the side of Hawk's head.
Hawk looking very determined here, making life difficult for Miller.
Even with his hooks in, Miller manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Miller wants to control but Hawk is keeping busy.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Miller punches the canvas rather than the man.
Miller is looking to control Hawk but Hawk is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Will Miller go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Miller working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Hawk is doing well to defend. Miller seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Hawk is forced to tap and this one is over!
