Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Marvin Fon Gadov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David Barriage! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barriage drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Fon Gadov looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Barriage tries to free his leg and advance position but Fon Gadov is retaining full guard. Barriage tries to stand but Fon Gadov is controlling from the bottom. Fon Gadov keeping full guard, as Barriage tries to pass. Barriage is working Fon Gadov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barriage looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
David Barriage has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Barriage gets a double leg takedown into Fon Gadov's guard. Barriage slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Barriage is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Fon Gadov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barriage scores with punches from side control. Barriage wants to stand but Fon Gadov has his arm trapped. Barriage advances nicely into full mount. Barriage jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Fon Gadov manages to avoid the submission attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barriage content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barriage throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barriage tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barriage has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Barriage taking a breather here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Barriage working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Barriage dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Barriage. Fon Gadov is letting Barriage control him for a moment. Fon Gadov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Barriage connects with a decent elbow. Barriage passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Fon Gadov! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barriage takes Fon Gadov's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Fon Gadov is in trouble. Barriage is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barriage is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Fon Gadov is defending well though. Barriage let's go of the attempt for now. Fon Gadov is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Barriage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barriage is cranking Fon Gadov's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Fon Gadov! He's tightened the choke and Fon Gadov is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Barriage! David Barriage decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
