PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Hume (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeshi Yuudai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yuudai comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fear of the dark - Iron Maiden kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Desmond Hume!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Takeshi Yuudai!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yuudai has a takedown stuffed.
Hume is looking to score with low kicks.
Hume lands with a kick to the ribs.
Hume connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Hume gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Yuudai with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hume utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yuudai wants to pass the guard but Hume is keeping the position.
Hume is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hume knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yuudai on the ground.
Yuudai with a flurry of punches that miss.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hume is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yuudai is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hume is controlling him.
Hume has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yuudai is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hume really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hume tries to control but Yuudai wriggling away.
Yuudai avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hume.
Yuudai's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hume trying to control but Yuudai is having none of it.
Yuudai is in a horrible position here. Hume smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hume will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yuudai is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Yuudai wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Yuudai is looking to clinch but Hume is avoiding it.

Yuudai shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hume as he avoids it easily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Hume. Yuudai does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hume throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hume tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hume pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yuudai dives in and grabs Hume's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hume pushes down on Yuudai's head and hops out.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hume.

Hume with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hume pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yuudai avoids the head kick by Hume.
Hume lands with a kick to the temple. Yuudai shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Hume misses with a body shot
and Yuudai counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Yuudai chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hume can pounce on him.

Yuudai shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Yuudai is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yuudai connects with a nice short shot to Hume's temple.

Yuudai is looking for a kimura here.
Hume trying to control from the bottom.

Yuudai is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hume on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hume tries to get out of the position.

Yuudai is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Takeshi Yuudai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Hume darts in and clinches Yuudai up against the cage.
Yuudai goes for a takedown attempt but Hume pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hume.

Hume tries to improve position but can't.

Yuudai creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hume sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hume tries to buck Yuudai off but Yuudai is having none of it.

Yuudai is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Hume is trying to escape and Yuudai transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Hume is forced to tap! Nice work there by Yuudai! Very nice indeed!
