PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Ferrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ferrell is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Gators speech. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocky Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Ferrell!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Ferrell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ferrell wants it to stay on the feet.

Ferrell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lawler was covering up waiting for the punch and Ferrell finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ferrell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ferrell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lawler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ferrell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rocky Lawler.

Ferrell manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lawler on his heels. He'll look to pass Lawler's guard now, I'm sure.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ferrell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lawler looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
