Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fidel Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Barros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Fidel Castro has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Fidel Castro seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fidel Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Barros! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castro closes the distance and clinches up with Barros, looking for a takedown. Castro pushes Barros against the cage but Barros circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Barros looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barros won't allow Castro to sweep him here. Barros is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Castro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Castro has escaped and now he's on top! Barros is looking for a triangle but Castro pushes his legs off easily.
Barros wants to sweep but no luck. Barros should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Castro trying to control the position from guard on top but Barros is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Castro trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Castro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barros works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Castro trying to control but Barros is working from the bottom. Castro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Castro looking to pass the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Barros doesn't succeed with the takedown and Castro counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Barros trying to control here.
Castro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Barros looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Castro wants to control but Barros is keeping him busy. Castro slows the pace down in half guard. Barros keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Barros is trying to get back to full guard. Barros looks gassed! Castro drops an elbow to the side of Barros's head.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Barros doesn't succeed with the takedown and Castro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Castro changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barros looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Barros strikes from the bottom. Castro is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Barros has escaped the position, nice work there. Castro in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Barros is trying to control Castro's posture but Castro avoids it. Castro has knee on belly and moves into mount. Barros can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castro landing strikes, looking to finish! Barros tries to reverse the position but Castro maintains control. Barros is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Barros wants to hold on but Castro pushes him away. Barros is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Castro tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barros knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Barros is refusing to be controlled, as Castro sits in half guard. Barros is pressing down on Castro's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Barros looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Castro stands up and waves to Barros to follow him. Castro clinches up with Barros and pushes him back against the cage. Castro breaks from the clinch.
Castro bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Castro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barros is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Castro pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Castro shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Castro takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Castro trying to control the pace. Barros wants to get back to full guard. Barros is breathing heavily. Castro looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Barros is refusing to be controlled, as Castro sits in half guard. Castro is thwarting Barros's attempts to control the position. Barros is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Castro's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Castro's back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Barros is looking for a choke. Castro gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Castro manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Barros wants to sweep here but Castro controlling him for the moment. Castro stands and throws Barros's legs to the side, diving into side control. Barros manages to get back to half guard. Barros is trying to control but can't.
Castro prevents Barros from improving his position. Barros looking for submissions off his back. Barros moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barros lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Castro! Barros takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Barros is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Castro is defending well though. Barros let's go of the attempt for now. Castro controlling Barros 's hands. Barros doesn't have the hooks in and Castro manages to turn into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Castro connects with a nice short shot to Barros's temple. Castro scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Castro wants to free his trapped foot but Barros is holding on for dear life with his legs. Castro passes the guard and advances to mount! Barros in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

It looks like Ricardo Barros has been cut. Castro raining down shots from the mount! Barros is still in real trouble! Can Castro finish him? Castro putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Castro lands a heavy elbow. Castro controlling from the full mount. Castro lands with some strikes. Barros is trying to control the action in half guard but Castro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Castro with a poor takedown and Barros counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Barros in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Castro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Castro is looking to stand up but Barros isn't so interested in that idea. Barros tries to free his leg and advance position but Castro is retaining full guard. Barros trying to control but Castro is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barros slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Castro is looking to regain half guard here but Barros keeps moving and retains side control. Barros trying to control the action but Castro is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ricardo Barros. Well Castro has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
