Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spiral Eagle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eagle looks to score with a jab to the body but Couture is just out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Eagle. No joy for Couture on that attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Eagle enables Couture to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Eagle manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Couture advances to half guard.
Couture drops an elbow to the side of Eagle's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eagle wants to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Couture connects with a nice short shot to Eagle's temple.
Couture not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Couture drops an elbow to the side of Eagle's head.
Eagle makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Eagle.
Eagle wants to sweep but no luck.
Eagle trying to keep a closed guard but Couture is proving a slippery customer.
Couture seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Eagle is on top in guard.
Couture is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Couture has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Eagle has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Eagle there as he acknowledges the shot.

Eagle is rocked!
Couture slips a straight right by Eagle.
Oh Eagle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eagle fails to land with a series of punches.
Eagle seems to have got his legs back now.
Couture throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Eagle's waist but Eagle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Couture off to one side.

and Eagle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Eagle swings for the body but Couture moves out of range.
A lazy left from Eagle finds it's target.

Eagle gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Couture to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Couture stands up over Eagle, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Couture wants to control from the top but Eagle keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Spiral Eagle wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Couture bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Eagle tries to clinch there but Couture circles away.
Couture lands with a straight right. Eagle didn't see that one coming.
Couture throws a hook but Eagle avoids it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Couture shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Couture showed some decent athleticism there.
Eagle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Couture on the ground.
Eagle manages to get to full guard.
Couture stays in close to Eagle's body and controls the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

During a confident post fight interview, Marcelo Couture thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
