PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sigurdsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sigurdsson comes into the arena with 2ne1 - Can't Nobody blaring out of the sound system. Frank Sigurdsson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dean Martin 's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Sigurdsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Martin !
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sigurdsson takes one to the chin there.
Martin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sigurdsson stalks Martin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Martin 's face. Martin staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Dean Martin has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sigurdsson lands a left and a right that send Martin crashing to the mat, dazed. Sigurdsson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Sigurdsson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Sigurdsson gets caught napping as Martin dives in and scores a takedown. Sigurdsson manages to retain guard.
Sigurdsson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sigurdsson tries to get out of the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Martin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Sigurdsson is keeping the position.
Martin prevents Sigurdsson from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sigurdsson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sigurdsson has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle.
Martin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Martin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Martin 's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sigurdsson wants to stand and escape but Martin is having none of it.
Sigurdsson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Martin on the ground.
Martin controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin passes into half guard.
Sigurdsson has hold of Martin 's hands but Martin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Martin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sigurdsson's head.
Martin trying to control the action but Sigurdsson is working from the bottom.
Martin prevents Sigurdsson from standing back up.

Sigurdsson pushes Martin off and gets back to his feet.
A big left from Sigurdsson misses.
Sigurdsson ducks right into an uppercut from Martin .
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sigurdsson scores with a sloppy right hand. Martin should have avoided that one.
Sigurdsson misses with a double jab

and Martin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martin is pushing down on Sigurdsson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sigurdsson is fighting to maintain full guard but Martin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Martin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sigurdsson's head.
Martin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Martin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Martin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sigurdsson keeps working.
Sigurdsson wants to get back to his feet.
Martin is keen to just control but Sigurdsson is a slippery customer.
Martin throwing shots but Sigurdsson is blocking nicely.
Sigurdsson is trying to stand back up but Martin is controlling him
Martin trying to pass the guard but Sigurdsson defending well.
Martin moves nicely into side control.
Sigurdsson is not content to let Martin control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sigurdsson is trying to get back to his feet.
Martin trying to control the action but Sigurdsson is working from the bottom.
Sigurdsson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Martin working the ground and pound.
Sigurdsson is letting Martin control him for a moment.
Sigurdsson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Martin has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Martin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sigurdsson down.
Sigurdsson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Martin ! Sigurdsson is hurt baaadly! Martin is firing away with more strikes - Sigurdsson is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dean Martin !
Dean Martin seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
