Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chase Chason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dy Batista! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batista fails to land with a series of punches.
Chason takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Batista misses with a body shot.
Batista fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chason manages to avoid it. Batista displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chason. Batista moves out of range of the leg kick from Chason. Chason looks to land a body kick but Batista moved away. Batista checks a leg kick nicely. Batista moves out of range of the body kick from Chason.
Chason gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Batista. Batista cracks Chason with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Chason looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Batista finish him?
Chason is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Batista lands a slapping body shot.
Oh Chason is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Chason gets the takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Batista wants to get back to his feet but Chason drags him back down. Chason seems to have got his legs back now. Chason working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Batista really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chason. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. You can see the frustration on Batista's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Batista is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chason is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Batista knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Chason has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Batista is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Chason yanks on the arm and Batista is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Chason.
