Carter comes into the arena with 99 Problems Remix blaring out of the sound system. Alexander Khalifman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalifman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carter as he avoids it easily.

Carter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carter.

Khalifman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Carter takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Khalifman gets the takedown into side control.

Carter is trying to improve his position.
Khalifman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Khalifman wants to control for a moment but Carter uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Khalifman is trying to control but can't.
Carter tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Khalifman wants to get back to full guard but Carter has mounted him!
Khalifman is squirming around, avoiding Carter's attempts to control the action.
Carter thowing shots but they're missing.
Khalifman can't escape the position.
Khalifman wants to control but Carter is having none of it.
Khalifman is desperately trying to improve his position but Carter has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carter controlling the pace for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shawn Carter dominated that round.

Carter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Carter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Khalifman counters with a one-two to the body.
Some wild striking there from Carter.
Khalifman takes a swing at Carter's ribcage but misses.
A big right from Khalifman misses.
Khalifman lands a lovely overhand right.
Khalifman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carter tries to avoid it but Khalifman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carter to the ground. Carter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A left and a right from Khalifman both land. Nice combination.
Shawn Carter is winning the standup battle so far.
Carter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Khalifman on the side of the head.
Carter takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Left hook, right uppercut from Khalifman.
Carter is rocked!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Khalifman! Carter is backing up but he can't get away as Khalifman lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Carter and ends the fight. Great knockout.
