A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Doe.

Doe pushes Ioane up against the cage in a clinch.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Ioane is looking to stand up but Doe won't let him.
Doe wants to sweep here but Ioane controlling him for the moment.

Doe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ioane manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ioane can do anything to dispel that myth.

Doe closes the distance and clinches up with Ioane, looking for a takedown. Doe pushes Ioane against the cage but Ioane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Doe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ioane's waist but Ioane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Doe off to one side.

Ioane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ioane fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Doe has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ioane moves into range and connects with a jab.
Doe shoots for a double leg takedown but Ioane sprawls well. He's pushed Doe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

John Doe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Doe shoots in for a takedown but Ioane shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
