The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuiness avoids the body shot from Mendoza.
Mendoza misses with a left hand
and McGuiness makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

McGuiness drives through and clinches with Mendoza against the cage.

Mendoza decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Mendoza ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

A decent looking cross lands there for Mendoza.
Mendoza will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

McGuiness bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGuiness scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mendoza to see if he's OK.
Mendoza gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
McGuiness thows a huge punch but Mendoza dodges it nicely.

Mendoza tries to stand but McGuiness is controlling his head.

Mendoza decides to stand back up. Mendoza steps back and let's McGuiness get back to his feet.
Zachary Mendoza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A punch lands to the side of McGuiness 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A telegraphed right hand from Mendoza misses the target.

and McGuiness counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mannix McGuiness will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mendoza fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McGuiness on the side of the head.
McGuiness takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
McGuiness shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mendoza's corner calls for a 1-2. Mendoza obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
McGuiness shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mendoza but Mendoza pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mannix McGuiness is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McGuiness walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

McGuiness is rocked!
Mendoza connects with a combination that backs up McGuiness into the cage. Mendoza lands a flurry of punches that gets past McGuiness's guard. McGuiness is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Mendoza bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
