PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Highsmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caesar has chosen Et Tu Brute as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Highsmith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julius Caesar!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Highsmith throws an overhand right that lands on Caesar's shoulder, as Caesar tries to avoid the shot.
Highsmith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Caesar avoids it really well and circles away.

Highsmith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Caesar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Caesar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Caesar tries to bench press Highsmith off him but Highsmith keeps the position.

Highsmith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Caesar, who protects the arm well.

Highsmith is stalling here. Caesar is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Highsmith seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Caesar has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Highsmith looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Highsmith can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Highsmith will probably get the nod.

Caesar fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Caesar digs a right hand underneath Highsmith's ribcage. Highsmith let out a lung full of air as it connected.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Still in the clinch, Caesar scores with a nice short uppercut.

It looks like Johnny Highsmith has been cut.
A right handed body shot lands from Caesar.
Caesar digs a right hand into Highsmith's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Highsmith's gas tank.

Caesar manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Caesar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Highsmith stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Caesar drops Highsmith with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Highsmith looks back up at him and smiles so Caesar waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Caesar has taken the fight to the clinch.

A body shot lands from Caesar.
Highsmith wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Caesar breaks from the clinch.
Julius Caesar seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Caesar lands a jab to Highsmith's midsection.
Caesar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Oooooh!!! Caesar has knocked Highsmith down with a huge combo! Caesar steps away and waves a wobbly Highsmith back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Highsmith is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Caesar with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Oh Highsmith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Highsmith gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Caesar gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Highsmith is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Julius Caesar!
