PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between County Cold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cold kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cold As Ice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, County Cold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Dirt!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirt throws a hook but Cold avoids it easily.

Cold shoots in and bounces Dirt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Cold works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Cold moves nicely into side control.
The referee asks Cold politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cold prefers to stall for the moment though.
Dirt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cold wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cold remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Cold is chipping away with strikes.
Cold controls the position from side control.
Cold moves into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cold looking to control and managing it successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cold is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dirt can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dirt is desperately trying to improve his position but Cold has a good base and remains in mount.

Dirt is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Cold seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dirt for as long as he can get away with.
Cold lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Cold has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

County Cold dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cold tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dirt swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cold rushes Dirt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cold gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Cold is stalling in the full guard.
Cold passes Dirt's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Cold controlling the action here.
Cold is looking to advance position but Dirt won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cold takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
County Cold overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of County Cold.
Dirt missing with a left hand there. Cold was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cold avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab from Dirt misses.
Cold tries to clinch but Dirt is having none of it.
Cold tries to clinch there but Dirt circles away.
Dirt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cold as he avoids it easily.

Cold moves into the clinch.
Dirt is looking to break free of the clinch but Cold has double underhooks.
Cold tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Dirt tries to break free but Cold pushes him back against the cage.
Dirt jumps guard but Cold stands there with Dirt around his waist. Dirt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Dirt tries to break the clinch but Cold is controlling the position.

Cold has hold of one of Dirt's legs. Dirt is fighting the takedown attempt but Cold gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Cold is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because County Cold wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cold drives through and clinches with Dirt against the cage.

Cold lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Cold seems content to control.
Cold is pressing down on Dirt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dirt is holding on for now.
Cold is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Cold controlling the pace for now.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cold cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cold scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Cold is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dirt can do to turn this around?

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Dirt is looking to clinch.
Cold fails with an attempt to clinch.

Cold fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dirt sprawls well initially but Cold persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cold trying to mount his opponent but Dirt defends it.

Dirt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cold pulls his head out easily.
Cold perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Cold is looking to pass Dirt's guard but actually Dirt recovers to full guard.
Cold controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Dirt can't keep his opponent in guard - Cold advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cold content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because County Cold just wasn't active enough.

Cold clinches up against the cage.
Dirt is trying to push Cold away but Cold has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Cold tries for a takedown but Dirt manages to get underhooks.
Dirt tries a body shot but Cold blocks it.
Cold tries to score a body lock takedown but Dirt shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Dirt is trying to break free.

Cold is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dirt can't fight it off and eventually Cold manages to take the fight to the floor. Dirt looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cold sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dirt's guard.

Cold wants to pass the guard but Dirt is defending well.
Cold stalling.
County Cold is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because County Cold just wasn't active enough.

Cold closes the distance and pushes Dirt back into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cold gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Cold slips nicely into half guard.
Cold passes the guard and advances to mount!
Cold landing strikes from the mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
County Cold showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Cold has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
