Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boris Badenov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nelly Haynes! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haynes fails to land the takedown. Badenov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Haynes avoids it really well and circles away. Badenov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Haynes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Badenov is looking for a sweep. Badenov takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Haynes creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Badenov is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haynes working the body and head with strikes. Haynes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! You can see the frustration on Badenov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Haynes tries for a kimura but Badenov is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badenov managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Haynes.
Haynes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Haynes tries for a kimura but Badenov is defending well. Haynes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Haynes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Badenov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Haynes on the ground. Haynes in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Badenov pushes Haynes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Haynes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Haynes tries for a kimura but Badenov is defending well. Haynes works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Badenov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Haynes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Haynes in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Badenov is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
