Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Kuntz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuntz comes into the arena with Check My Brain blaring out of the sound system. Rua has chosen AVANTASIA-Seven Angels as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
31 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rusty Kuntz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

27 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyoto Rua!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua swings for the body but Kuntz moves out of range.
Kuntz misses with an uppercut.
Rua throws a hook but Kuntz avoids it easily.
Kuntz connects with a high kick.
Kuntz throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Rua throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rua takes a swing at Kuntz's ribcage but misses.
A big right from Rua misses.
Kuntz blocks a jab.
Rua takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rua misses with a wild body shot.
Rua ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kuntz thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kuntz throws a leg kick which misses Rua's front leg but catches the back leg as Rua tries to avoid it.
Kuntz throws a hook to the side of Rua's head but Rua sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rusty Kuntz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kuntz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rua at a distance.

Rua misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kuntz.

and Kuntz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rua holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua wants to control from the top but Kuntz keeps moving.
Kuntz is trying to control the position but Rua postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rusty Kuntz.
Kuntz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Rua is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kuntz rather than just go for the knockout.

Kuntz misses with a leg kick
and Rua counters with a single leg into guard. Kuntz didn't expect that.
Kuntz wants to sweep here but Rua controlling him for the moment.
Rua not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kuntz has momentary wrist control but Rua slips an elbow through the middle.

Rua throws a strike but Kuntz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kuntz wants to get up but he can't break Rua's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rua fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kuntz sprawls well initially but Rua persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rua connects with a nice short shot to Kuntz's temple.
Rua lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Rua is taking a breather. Kuntz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Lyoto Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kuntz, as that shot connected.

Rua chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kuntz can pounce on him.
Rua is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Kuntz looks to throw the jab but Rua is out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Rua checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Rua bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rua takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rua looks to land a left hand but Kuntz moved out of range nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kuntz thuds his shin into the meat of Rua's side.
Kuntz throws a chopping leg kick but Rua manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kuntz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rua.
Rua takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kuntz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
No joy there for Kuntz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nice takedown defense from Kuntz. No joy for Rua on that attempt.
Rusty Kuntz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Rua.
Kuntz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

enabling Rua to counter with a crisp jab.
Kuntz tries a head kick but it misses.
Kuntz leaves Rua with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd cheers as Kuntz lands an impressive looking overhand right. Rua doesn't seem phased though.
Kuntz connects with a jab.
Nice defenses there by Rua.
Rua checks the leg kick.
Kuntz feints and then cracks Rua's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rua down.
Rua on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Rua misses the jab.
Kuntz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rua checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Kuntz lands a leg kick that knocks Rua off balance momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rua fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kuntz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kuntz lands with a thumping leg kick.

Kuntz looks to throw the jab but Rua is out of range.

Kuntz will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Kuntz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kuntz there as he acknowledges the shot.

Rua looks to score with a jab to the body but Kuntz is just out of range.
Kuntz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rua moves into range and clinches up with Kuntz.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kuntz.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rusty Kuntz showed his dominance in that final round.
