Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rico Ferzeta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico Ferzeta has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rico Ferzeta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Wilkins!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferzeta is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Ferzeta gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wilkins to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ferzeta drops back looking for a leg! Wilkins is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wilkins manages to kick Ferzeta off! Ferzeta jumps back into Wilkins's guard.

Wilkins wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Wilkins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferzeta. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ferzeta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wilkins looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wilkins looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wilkins!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wilkins is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ferzeta will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ferzeta throws a solid leg kick but Wilkins takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ferzeta.

Well Wilkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
