Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikeldi Pallardi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rodney Wallace! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pallardi misses with a straight right. Pallardi moves into the clinch. Pallardi throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Wallaces head.
It looks like Rodney Wallace has been cut. Pallardi manages to break the clinch.
Pallardi looks to score with a jab to the body but Wallace is just out of range. Pallardi just misses with a punch to the body.
Pallardi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Wallace goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Wallace pulls guard effortlessly. Pallardi controls from within his opponent's guard. Pallardi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pallardi sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pallardi preventing the sweep. Pallardi is in close to Wallace's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pallardi controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Wallace working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pallardi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pallardi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Wallace can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pallardi controls the pace. Pallardi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Pallardi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pallardi sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mikeldi Pallardi has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Wallace takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Pallardi gets caught napping as Wallace dives in and scores a takedown. Pallardi manages to retain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Pallardi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Pallardi keeping moving, preventing Wallace from controlling successfully. Wallace throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pallardi works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pallardi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Wallace doesn't defend quickly enough and Pallardi has managed to lock this one up! Can Wallace escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pallardi on a fantastic submission victory.
