Varjo has chosen Faith No More - Be aggressive as his entrance music. Manu Asce has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Manu Asce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Otto Varjo!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Asce drives through and clinches with Varjo against the cage.

Asce lands a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Asce accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Our spies down at at Rough House inform us that Varjo has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Asce in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Varjo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Asce's guard.

Varjo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Asce is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Varjo passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Varjo is looking to take a break and control but Asce is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Varjo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Varjo is controlling the pace.
Varjo sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Asce defending well though.
Asce pushes Varjo off looking to stand but Varjo dives back in and keeps control.
Varjo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Varjo looking to control and managing it successfully.

Varjo misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Varjo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Varjo working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Asce looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Varjo! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Otto Varjo!
A relieved looking Otto Varjo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
