The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes fails with a takedown attempt.
Barnes misses with a looping left.
Barnes shoots in but no luck this time.
A nice combination there by Venoit.
Barnes has a takedown stuffed.
Elmer Venoit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blake Barnes.
A shot to de liver by Venoit. Beautiful body shot.
Barnes is looking to land body kicks.

Venoit keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Good leg kick by Barnes there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Blake Barnes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barnes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Venoit is fending him off so far but Barnes persists. Nope, Venoit circles away and we're back to standing.

Venoit bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Barnes throws a jab but it's blocked by Venoit.

and Venoit counters with a one-two to the body.
Venoit avoids a punch combination nicely.

Barnes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Barnes trying to control but Venoit is working from the bottom.
Barnes postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Venoit is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barnes, into his guard.
Barnes is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Venoit rolls with it to try and escape but Barnes cranks on the arm and Venoit is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
