Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Markus Kivikoski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Stilies! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kivikoski fails with an attempt to clinch.
Stilies lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Stilies lands a nice shot to the body.
Kivikoski fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice takedown defense from Stilies. No joy for Kivikoski on that attempt. Kivikoski takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Stilies scores with a decent looking hook. Stilies misses with a few strikes there.
Stilies feints a jab promting Kivikoski to slip. Stilies then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kivikoski slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kivikoski fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stilies to the ground. Kivikoski is now in Stilies's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Kivikoski is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Kivikoski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kivikoski is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stilies wants to stand but Kivikoski is controlling the position. Kivikoski tries to free his leg and advance position but Stilies is retaining full guard. Stilies is looking to stand up but Kivikoski isn't so interested in that idea. Stilies is wriggling around but Kivikoski manages to pass to half guard.
Kivikoski is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kivikoski frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kivikoski looking to control and managing it successfully. Stilies wants to try and get back to his feet. Kivikoski content just to control the position here. Stilies is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Stilies takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kivikoski sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Kivikoski landing punches. Stilies wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Kivikoski has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! Stilies taps furiously! This one is all over!
