Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Foreman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Marques! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foreman moves into the clinch. Foreman tries to pull guard but Marques forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Foreman lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Marques is trying to maintain the position but Foreman is very close to passing his half guard. Foreman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Foreman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Marques knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marques pushes Foreman off looking to stand but Foreman dives back in and keeps control.
Marques slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Marques bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Foreman's guard. Marques is looking to work some ground and pound but Foreman has wrist control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Foreman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Foreman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foreman keeping full guard, as Marques tries to pass. Foreman working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Marques. Foreman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marques defends well. Marques forces his way into half guard. Marques looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Foreman wants to get back to his feet. Marques trying to mount his opponent but Foreman defends it. Marques not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Marques drops an elbow to the side of Foreman's head. Foreman is breathing heavily. Marques sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Foreman defending well though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marques seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Foreman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Foreman is trying to get back to full guard. Marques throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Foreman is in trouble now - Marques has advanced to mount! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Marques unloads with some shots from mount but Foreman bucks and avoids them well.
Marques throwing strikes here but Foreman is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Marques breaks from Foreman's wrist control and lands an elbow. Marques punching from mount but Foreman doing a good job of avoiding damage. Marques scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Foreman?
Foreman takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Foreman is rocked! Foreman takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Marques's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
