Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benedict Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Maccarone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz drives through with a takedown into Maccarone's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Maccarone wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Cruz is now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maccarone's waist but Maccarone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cruz off to one side.

Cruz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maccarone tries to avoid it but Cruz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maccarone to the ground. Maccarone escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Maccarone has his foot on Cruz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cruz works his way back into a safe position though.
