Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Hunter!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams blocks a head kick by Hunter.
Hunter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Adams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hunter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hunter trying to keep a closed guard but Adams is proving a slippery customer.
Adams is looking to stand up but Hunter won't let him.
Adams looking to sit in guard and control but Hunter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Adams is trying to control the position but Hunter postures up.
Hunter won't allow Adams to sweep him here.
Hunter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Adams pulls Hunter in to control the position.
Hunter is pushing down on Adams's leg trying to pass to half guard. Adams is fighting to maintain full guard but Hunter has managed to sneak the leg through.

Hunter wants to work for an arm triangle but Adams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Adams is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hunter pulls his head out easily.

Adams slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adams scores with a short punch from the bottom.
Adams has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Adams is looking for a triangle but Hunter pushes his legs off easily.
Adams wants to sweep but no luck.
Adams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hunter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hunter wants to pass the guard but Adams is keeping the position.
Hunter tries to stand but Adams is controlling from the bottom.

Adams is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hunter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Adams pulls Hunter in close to prevent any damage.
Hunter works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hunter thows a huge punch but Adams dodges it nicely.
Adams wants to improve his position but Hunter is controlling well.

Hunter not doing much here.
Adams trying to control but Hunter postures up.
Hunter is trying to control. Adams wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hunter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Adams is breathing heavily.
Hunter tries to score with some ground and pound. Adams controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Adams tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hunter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Adams, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Adams will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hunter throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Adams's head.
Bruce Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hunter takes the fight into the clinch.
Hunter is trying to push Adams away but Adams has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Hunter manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Hunter. No joy for Adams on that attempt.
Hunter leaves Adams with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Adams gets caught flat footed, as Hunter shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Adams is on top in guard.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Adams from controlling successfully.

Adams wants to pass the guard but Hunter is keeping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hunter looks to clinch

and Adams counters by clinching up.
Hunter pressing his opponent against the cage.
Hunter tries to break free but Adams pushes him back against the cage.
Adams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hunter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Adams tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Adams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hunter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sam Adams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hunter trying to remain calm as Adams controls from the top position.
Hunter is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hunter manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Adams tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Hunter has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Hunter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hunter tries to clinch there but Adams circles away.
Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch but Adams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hunter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Adams tries to get to full guard but Hunter has control of the leg.
Adams is trying to control but can't.
Hunter performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Adams is concentrating on defense, preventing Hunter from advancing position.

Adams wants to control but Hunter is keeping busy.

We're going to have a standup here because Sam Adams wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hunter plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Sam Adams has been cut.
Hunter moves in looking to clinch but Adams pushes him off.

Hunter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Adams on his heels. He'll look to pass Adams's guard now, I'm sure.

Hunter postures up.

Adams pushes Hunter off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hunter slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hunter turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Hunter moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


Adams is rocked!

Hunter has closed the distance and engaged Adams in a clinch.
Oh Adams is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Adams is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hunter is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Adams to the mat. Adams regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Adams seems to have got his legs back now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Adams is trying to keep Hunter in close.
Adams wants to sweep here but Hunter controlling him for the moment.

Adams is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hunter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Let's hope that Hunter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bruce Hunter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hunter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hunter wants it to stay on the feet.

Hunter slowing the pace effectively.

Hunter drags the fight down to the ground.
Hunter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hunter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Adams passes Hunter's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Bruce Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hunter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
