Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Krinov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, G Row! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Krinov throws a head kick but Row moves out of range.
Row fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Krinov sprawls well initially but Row persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Row moves nicely into side control. Krinov is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Row has just dragged him back down to the mat. Krinov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Row on the ground. Row is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Krinov has escaped the position, nice work there. Row tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Row has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Krinov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Row cracks Krinov with a big elbow. Row sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Krinov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Row working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Row misses with the ground and pound. Row tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Row has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Row tries for a kimura but Krinov is defending well. Row has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Row looks gassed! Krinov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Row trying to control the action but Krinov is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Row tries to advance to mount but Krinov denies him. Krinov wants to get back to his feet. Krinov gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Krinov tries to hold on but Row pushes him away. Row looking to control but Krinov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Krinov is looking to improve his position but Row isn't that keen on the idea. Row putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Krinov prevents Row from taking his back. Row looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Krinov is in all sorts of trouble here.
Row takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Row looking to control but Krinov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Krinov keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Row is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Row!
