Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Toney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andre Butcher! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Butcher displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Toney throws out the jab. Butcher goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Toney connects with a crisp jab. Toney connects with a nice looking jab.
Butcher throws a head kick that misses. Toney throws a looping overhand right but Butcher ducks down to avoid it. Toney pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Butcher moves out of range as Toney strikes. Butcher slips a straight right by Toney. Butcher steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Toney. Toney throws a hook to the side of Butcher's head but Butcher sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Butcher bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Toney lands an overhand right. The fighters circle momentarily. Toney darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Toney misses the jab. Butcher misses with a takedown attempt - Toney sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butcher misses with a straight right. Butcher is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Butcher throws a right and a left that Toney avoids nicely. Toney throws a hook to the side of Butcher's head but Butcher sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Butcher pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Toney lands a jab. Butcher staying out of range there. A jab from Toney misses. Toney looks to throw the jab but Butcher is out of range. Butcher shoots in but no luck this time. Butcher takes a jab right on the kisser.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Toney throws a lazy right hand but Butcher sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Butcher takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Butcher tries to close the distance and clinch up but Toney swats him away and circles back towards the center. Toney misses with a hook. Butcher ducked under it nicely. Butcher ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. This has been an exciting period of action! Butcher shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Toney defends it nicely. James Toney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Butcher. A looping hook to the body misses from Toney. Butcher does a little dance to reset his feet. James Toney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Butcher shoots in for a takedown but Toney shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Toney thuds his right hand into Butcher's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Toney uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Butcher has time to react. Toney waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Butcher. Toney darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Butcher is rocked! Butcher looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Toney ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Butcher is still on wobbly legs! Can Toney finish him? Butcher has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Butcher there as he acknowledges the shot. Butcher slips a jab from Toney. No luck for Butcher with that takedown attempt. Butcher seems to have recovered his senses. Toney lands the left hand. Toney drops Butcher with a huge uppercut! Butcher drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Toney is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
