Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Matsuo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy The Grinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsuo thumps The Grinn with a low kick.
Matsuo forces The Grinn back against the cage and clinches.
Matsuo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Matsuo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and The Grinn counters with a shoot takedown. Matsuo fights it but they end up in guard.
The Grinn's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The Grinn postures up in Matsuo's guard and throws a big left but Matsuo blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Matsuo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jimmy The Grinn hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and The Grinn counters with a shoot takedown. Matsuo fights it but they end up in guard.

The Grinn stands up over Matsuo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The Grinn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Matsuo is looking to stand up but The Grinn isn't so interested in that idea.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy The Grinn dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matsuo walks into a straight right hand from The Grinn.

and The Grinn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Matsuo won't be happy with that.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The Grinn creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Matsuo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The Grinn wants to control but Matsuo is keeping him busy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee asks The Grinn politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. The Grinn prefers to stall for the moment though.

Oooh a big shot lands for The Grinn! Matsuo is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
