Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daigo Goto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duggan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daigo Goto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Duggan! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goto just misses with a punch to the body.
Duggan tries to clinch but Goto moves out of range. Duggan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Duggan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Duggan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Duggan is looking to clinch but Goto is avoiding it.
Goto thows a body shot but no joy. Goto lands a glancing blow to the side of Duggan's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duggan clinches. Duggan with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Goto tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Goto is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Duggan's shoulder. That is not cool. Duggan wants to control but Goto postures up. Duggan is trying to get back to half guard. Goto stands up and beckons Duggan to his feet. Duggan throws a head kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Goto throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Duggan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Goto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Duggan's guard. Duggan looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Goto has picked Duggan up and slammed him! Duggan can't keep hold of the triangle and Goto manages to pass to side control! Goto gets to mount! Duggan was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Duggan is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Goto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Duggan for as long as he can get away with. Duggan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daigo Goto dominated that round. The cut man is working on Daigo Goto's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Goto throws a shot to the body.
Goto has a takedown stuffed. Duggan tries to close the distance and clinch but Goto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Goto shoots in but Duggan avoids the takedown attempt easily. Goto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duggan tries to clinch up but Goto circles away and keeps his distance. Goto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daigo Goto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Duggan throws a hook but Goto blocks it. Duggan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Duggan lands a head kick. Goto smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Goto is rocked! Goto slips a jab from Duggan. Duggan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Goto keeps the fight on the outside. Jim Duggan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goto feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Duggan tries to land a sweep but no joy. Duggan has an active guard here but Goto has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Goto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duggan keeps working. Duggan is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duggan is trying to stand.
Duggan tries to roll over but Goto keeps him under control. Duggan trying to control but Goto postures up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Duggan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Goto throws out the jab. Duggan wants to clinch. Goto is looking to wear down Duggan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. The fight stays on the outside here - Duggan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Goto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Duggan wants to improve his position but Goto is controlling well.

Duggan closes the distance but Goto moves to the side and Goto holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Goto drops down looking for an ankle pick but Duggan pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daigo Goto. That's going to take a lot out of him. Goto gets the takedown into side control. A lull in the action here as Goto stalls from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goto has knee on belly and moves into mount. Goto tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Goto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jim Duggan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Goto wants to control the action but instead Duggan gets a body lock and reverses into Goto's guard! Nice work! Duggan wants to stand but Goto has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Duggan trying to control but Goto is working from the bottom. Duggan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Duggan stopping the sweep attempt from Goto. Duggan has gone for a leg lock! Goto slips out almost immediately though and dives into Duggan's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Duggan throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
And that's the end of the fight! Daigo Goto showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Goto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
