PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hito Rama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker has chosen Young as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Parker!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rama jabs Parker right on the nose. Parker blinks but takes it well.

Rama closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Parker to the mat! Parker manages to get full guard.
Parker controls Rama momentarily but Rama frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rama tries to stand but Parker is controlling from the bottom.
Rama prevents Parker from getting back to his feet.
Rama is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Parker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Parker wants to stand up but Rama is controlling him.
Parker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rama controls the pace.
Parker throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rama throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parker's waist but Parker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rama off to one side.

Rama doesn't manage to clinch there - Parker circles away.
Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rama gets the takedown into side control.
Parker is trying to get back to his feet.
Rama wants to control but Parker is keeping him busy.
Rama tries to move into full mount but can't pass Parker's legs.
Rama trying to control the action but Parker is working from the bottom.
Rama taking a break here but Parker is having none of it and regains half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rama passes to side control.
Rama advances to mount.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rama wants to control the pace but Parker is squirming around nicely.
Parker working to try and regain half guard.

Rama goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Parker turns into him and now he's in Rama's guard.
Parker would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Parker looks gassed!

Parker looking to improve position, pressing down on Rama's thigh with his hand. Rama seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Parker paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Parker's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Rama picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
