PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Nunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Boulks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Nunes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Boulks!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nunes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Diego Nunes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boulks avoids a punch combination nicely.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like Boulks might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Nunes is looking to escape.
Boulks takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Boulks wants to control but Nunes is keeping him busy.
Boulks content to control rather than advance.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Will Boulks wasn't active enough on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Will Boulks hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Boulks has hold of Nunes's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Nunes seems comfortable defending it but Boulks has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Nunes is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Nunes is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Boulks couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Will Boulks!
Will Boulks spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
