PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ram Bibi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Gillmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Martin Gillmore was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ram Bibi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Martin Gillmore!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bibi.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bibi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bibi trying to control the action but Gillmore is working from the bottom.

Bibi tries for a kimura but Gillmore is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gillmore is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Bibi wants to control but Gillmore is keeping him busy.

Gillmore wants to get back to his feet but Bibi drags him back down.
Bibi advances nicely into full mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bibi fails to advance to Gillmore's back.
Bibi thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Bibi is working for a guillotine from mount but Gillmore frees his head quite easily.
Bibi throws a strike there. Gillmore manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Well, if Bibi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bibi is trying to work for a kimura but Gillmore is defending well.

Bibi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bibi stops Gillmore from getting back to his feet.

Bibi is working for a submission of some sort.

Bibi is looking for a kimura but Gillmore is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bibi to get the leverage.

Bibi is trying to work for a kimura but Gillmore is defending well.
Gillmore is refusing to be controlled, as Bibi sits in half guard.
Bibi is really struggling to control Gillmore but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Gillmore blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bibi.

Bibi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Bibi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ram Bibi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No luck with that takedown attempt from Bibi.
Gillmore sizes up Bibi with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Gillmore lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Gillmore tries to bum rush Bibi with a series of wild strikes but Bibi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bibi tries to clinch but Gillmore is having none of it.
Bibi fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ram Bibi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bibi shoots in and drives through. Gillmore sprawls well.
Gillmore lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bibi shoots in for a takedown but Gillmore shows good takedown defense.
Bibi is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Bibi shoots in but Gillmore avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gillmore moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gillmore cracks Bibi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gillmore buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Gillmore's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gillmore duly obliges.


Bibi is rocked!
Bibi tries for a takedown but Gillmore sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nice body punch from Gillmore.
Gillmore lands a jab to Bibi's midsection.
Gillmore fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Gillmore's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gillmore duly obliges.
Oh Bibi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Martin Gillmore is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bibi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gillmore tries to avoid it but Bibi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gillmore to the ground. Gillmore escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gillmore scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Gillmore lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Bibi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gillmore defends it nicely.

Gillmore throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Gillmore lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A right-left combo lands from Gillmore.
Gillmore circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Bibi to the canvas! Bibi doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Gillmore keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Martin Gillmore!
