Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robinson Crusoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robinson Crusoe has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robinson Crusoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryan shoots in and gets a takedown into Crusoe's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ryan stays in close to Crusoe's body and controls the position.

Crusoe is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Ryan wants a takedown.
Ryan is trying to drag Crusoe to the mat but Crusoe just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Crusoe pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Crusoe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here as Crusoe stalls from top position.

Crusoe looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Crusoe working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Crusoe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Crusoe wants to stand but Ryan is controlling his arm.

Crusoe is really struggling to control Ryan but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Crusoe stands up and beckons Ryan to his feet.

Ryan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Crusoe is trying to control the position but Ryan postures up.
Crusoe is looking to stand up but Ryan isn't so interested in that idea.

Crusoe pulls Ryan in close to prevent any damage.

Ryan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crusoe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ryan has gone for a leg lock! Crusoe slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ryan's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Crusoe would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crusoe is staying active underneath Ryan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Crusoe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ryan's guard.

Crusoe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ryan scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ryan is breathing heavily.
Ryan has his takedown stuffed
and Crusoe counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ryan's knee momentarily.
Crusoe closes the distance and clinches up with Ryan, looking for a takedown. Crusoe pushes Ryan against the cage but Ryan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Crusoe leaves Ryan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Crusoe closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ryan did well to prevent Crusoe getting side control.

Crusoe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ryan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Crusoe stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Ryan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Crusoe.

and Crusoe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Robinson Crusoe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Ryan.

Nice takedown defense from Ryan. No joy for Crusoe on that attempt.
Crusoe shoots in looking for a takedown. Ryan tries to sprawl out of it but Crusoe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ryan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ryan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Crusoe's guard.
Crusoe wants to sweep but no luck.
Ryan passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Ryan tries for a kimura but Crusoe is defending well.

Ryan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crusoe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ryan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Crusoe keeps working.

Crusoe tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ryan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Crusoe wants to control but Ryan postures up.
Crusoe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Crusoe can't do much from the bottom here.

Crusoe sneaks out the side door and pushes Ryan away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crusoe defending well as Ryan loads up on a big left hand.

Ryan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Crusoe did well to prevent Ryan getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crusoe moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Crusoe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ryan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ryan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ryan is looking to advance position but Crusoe has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Poor strikes thrown by Crusoe there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Robinson Crusoe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Crusoe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Crusoe is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ryan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Robinson Crusoe.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Crusoe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
