Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Millar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Diego Gonzales! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Millar sees it coming and avoids it easily. Millar tries to clinch but Gonzales is having none of it. Gonzales swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Millar. Millar tries to clinch there but Gonzales circles away.
Gonzales connects with a body shot. Gonzales throws an overhand right that lands on Millar's shoulder, as Millar tries to avoid the shot. Millar tries to clinch up but Gonzales circles away and keeps his distance. Millar takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Gonzales jabs at Millar's body. Gonzales scores with a nice strike. Millar on the wrong end of a nice hook. Gonzales lands with a good body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Millar shoots in looking for a takedown but Gonzales manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Millar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Millar is breathing heavily. Gonzales lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
It looks like Mike Millar has been cut. Millar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Millar is rocked! Gonzales finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Oh Millar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gonzales tries a low kick but Millar avoids it. Millar seems to have got his legs back now. No joy there for Gonzales, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Millar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Millar takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Millar takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Millar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gonzales counters with a stiff right hand. Gonzales shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Millar as he avoids it easily. Gonzales lands with a straight right. Millar didn't see that one coming. Gonzales connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Millar's hands. Gonzales cracks Millar with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Millar gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Gonzales gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diego Gonzales!
