Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sakari Nurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Marsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nurmi comes to the cage accompanied by Turisas -Take the day!. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sakari Nurmi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Marsden!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marsden feints and as Nurmi raises his hands in defense, Marsden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nurmi looking for a sweep. Not yet Nurmi, not yet.
Marsden is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nurmi controlling the position.
Marsden works over Nurmi with some ground and pound from guard.

Nurmi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Marsden!
Marsden is looking to improve his position but Nurmi isn't that keen on the idea.
Nurmi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Marsden's face.
Marsden has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marsden avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Nurmi.

Nurmi wants to pass to mount but Marsden is defending the position.

Marsden is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nurmi pulls his head out easily.
Nurmi missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nurmi wants to control but Marsden is keeping him busy.
Nurmi is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Marsden reverses the position - he's now on top in Nurmi's guard.

Marsden wants to pass the guard but Nurmi is keeping the position.

Nurmi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nurmi wants to take a breather but Marsden is having none of it.
Nurmi slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nurmi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Marsden has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Marsden actively working from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sakari Nurmi dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Marsden gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Nurmi counters with a shoot takedown. Marsden fights it but they end up in guard.
Nurmi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Marsden is keeping the position for now.

Marsden looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Nurmi has picked Marsden up and slammed him! Marsden can't keep hold of the triangle and Nurmi manages to pass to side control!

Nurmi scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Marsden to see if he's OK.

Marsden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sakari Nurmi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marsden is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nurmi sees it coming and defends easily.

Marsden is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are battling for position here. Nurmi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Nurmi has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Marsden has passed into side control.
Nurmi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marsden wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nurmi takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Marsden works to advance to full mount. Nurmi defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Marsden throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Nurmi because Marsden loaded up on that one.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sakari Nurmi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Roger Marsden!
Our winner, Roger Marsden, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
