Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Gutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kev Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Apollo Gutz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kev Hawkins! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawkins moves away from the strike by Gutz. Gutz swings for the body but Hawkins moves out of range.
A low kick from Gutz is predictable there enabling Hawkins to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Apollo Gutz has been cut. Gutz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hawkins is trying to defend but Gutz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Gutz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hawkins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gutz is looking to advance position but Hawkins won't allow it. Hawkins wants to control but Gutz is keeping busy.
Hawkins tries to get to full guard but Gutz has control of the leg. Gutz missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hawkins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hawkins wants it to stay on the feet. Hawkins ducks under a wild hook from Gutz. Gutz misses with an uppercut. Hawkins saw that one coming. Apollo Gutz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A solid leg kick lands there for Gutz.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawkins is looking to break free of the clinch but Gutz has double underhooks. Hawkins wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hawkins tries to circle away but Gutz has him pinned against the cage. Gutz content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Hawkins is trying to break the clinch but Gutz is controlling him. Gutz prevents Hawkins from breaking the clinch. Gutz lands an uppercut. Gutz's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Hawkins tries to circle away but Gutz has him pinned against the cage. A short left from Gutz. Gutz lands with a short shot to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hawkins wants to get back to striking at distance but Gutz won't allow it.
Hawkins looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Gutz prevents Hawkins from breaking the clinch. Hawkins is trying to break free. Hawkins is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Gutz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Gutz stalling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hawkins tries to break free but Gutz pushes him back against the cage. Gutz displaying some good clinch control by pressing Hawkins up against the cage. Hawkins breaks from the clinch.
Gutz scores with the left hand. Hawkins knows he should have avoided that one. Gutz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hawkins stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kev Hawkins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hawkins closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gutz scores with a jab. Hawkins acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Gutz misses with a looping left. Gutz throws a hook to the side of Hawkins's head but Hawkins sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Gutz throws a looping overhand right but Hawkins ducks down to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hawkins on the wrong end of a nice jab. Gutz lands a big right hand that sends Hawkins crashing to the mat! Gutz stays standing though and waves Hawkins back to his feet! Gutz has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hawkins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Gutz pressing his opponent against the cage. Hawkins looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Hawkins is trying to break the clinch but Gutz has him pressed against the cage. Hawkins is trying to push Gutz away but Gutz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hawkins tries to break free but Gutz pushes him back against the cage. Gutz stalling in the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gutz. Gutz lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Apollo Gutz dominated that round. The cut man is working on Apollo Gutz's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gutz misses with a takedown attempt - Hawkins sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gutz throws a series of punches but Hawkins moves out of range. Gutz throws a shot from downtown. Hawkins moves away and avoids it. Gutz scores with a sloppy right hand. Hawkins should have avoided that one. Apollo Gutz is winning the standup battle so far. A looping hook to the body misses from Gutz. Hawkins does a little dance to reset his feet. Gutz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hawkins is fending him off so far but Gutz persists. Nope, Hawkins circles away and we're back to standing. Hawkins on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Hawkins is trying to break the clinch but Gutz has him pressed against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hawkins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Gutz lands with a short head shot on the inside. Gutz scores with a shot to the side of Hawkins's head.

Hawkins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hawkins gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gutz. Gutz moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Gutz cracks Hawkins with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Hawkins defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gutz. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Apollo Gutz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gutz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gutz lands a slapping body shot.
Gutz feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hawkins sprawling to the canvas! Hawkins rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gutz finish him?!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gutz finds Hawkins's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Hawkins flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Gutz lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Hawkins will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Apollo Gutz! Apollo Gutz retains his heavyweight title! An out of breath Apollo Gutz thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
