Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Salcido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quala Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Salcido has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Nick Salcido!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quala Bear!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear is looking to clinch.
Bear lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bear.
Salcido looks to score with a jab to the body but Bear is just out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bear looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bear tries to clinch there but Salcido circles away.
Salcido takes a swing at Bear's ribcage but misses.
Bear fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Salcido avoids it really well and circles away.
Bear needs to keep his hands up - Salcido had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Quala Bear has been cut.
Salcido sizes up Bear with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bear ducks under a wild hook from Salcido.
Bear changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salcido tries to avoid it but Bear manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salcido to the ground. Salcido escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bear shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salcido pinned against the cage. Salcido gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nick Salcido has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quala Bear.
Bear shoots in and drives through. Salcido sprawls well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bear has a takedown stuffed.
Bear closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Salcido throws a hook to the side of Bear's head but Bear sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Salcido misses with a lunging right hand

and Bear holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Salcido gets underhooks to prevent Bear's takedown attempt.
Bear takes a shot to the head.
Bear swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A shot in the inside from Salcido.
Salcido lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bear backwards.

Bear drags the fight down to the ground.
Salcido not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bear controlling Salcido's posture.
Salcido trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bear's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salcido is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bear trying to keep a closed guard but Salcido is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

We're going to have a standup here because Nick Salcido wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Salcido loads up on a big right hand but Bear slips the punch.
Bear closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salcido circles away.

Bear forces Salcido back against the cage and clinches.
Salcido gets through Bear's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A short uppercut from Bear.
Salcido stalling in the clinch.
Bear goes for a takedown attempt but Salcido pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Salcido ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bear moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Salcido. No joy for Bear on that attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bear shoots in and gets a takedown into Salcido's guard.
Bear tries to free his leg and advance position but Salcido is retaining full guard.
Bear preventing the sweep.
Salcido pulls Bear in close to his closed guard and prevents Bear from doing any damage or advancing position.
Salcido on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Salcido tries to get out of the position.
Salcido is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Nick Salcido just wasn't active enough.
Bear shoots for a double leg takedown but Salcido sprawls well. He's pushed Bear's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bear fails with a takedown attempt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Salcido.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bear shoots in but Salcido avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Salcido lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Bear goes down and covers up as Salcido starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Salcido!
During a confident post fight interview, Nick Salcido thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
