The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gaarlandt shoots in but no luck this time.
Gaarlandt throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Gaarlandt doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gaarlandt.
Rome Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Gaarlandt.
Gaarlandt scores with a one two! Jones had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Gaarlandt pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jones tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gaarlandt, who protects the arm well.
Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gaarlandt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That has opened up Ricardo Gaarlandt's cut even more.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Gaarlandt is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Jones can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
