The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpkins looks to land a right hand but Cross moved out of range.
Cross shoots in for a double leg but Simpkins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Simpkins drops Cross with a big knee straight up the middle! Cross is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Simpkins throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cross crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Simpkins - the referee stops the clock and Cross gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Simpkins. Cross manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Simpkins throws a series of punches but Cross moves out of range.
Simpkins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cross pinned against the cage. Cross gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Simpkins jerks Cross's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Cross drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Simpkins goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Simpkins because Cross was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
