PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Guidetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Probert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Probert has chosen "Love Sosa" by Chief Keef as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. John Guidetti could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sparky Probert's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Guidetti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sparky Probert!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guidetti darts in trying to clinch
and Probert cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Probert throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A punch lands to the side of Guidetti 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Probert pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Probert changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Jab by Probert.
Probert looks to land a left hand but Guidetti moved out of range nicely.
Probert throws the left hand but Guidetti avoids the punch easily.
Probert lands with a nice body punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Probert throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Probert connects with a body shot that sends Guidetti's belly button to the back.
Guidetti lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Probert throws an overhand right that lands on Guidetti's shoulder, as Guidetti tries to avoid the shot.
Guidetti gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Probert counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Guidetti thinking.
A jab lands there for Probert.
A punch lands to the side of Guidetti 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Guidetti shoots and misses
and Probert cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sparky Probert is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Guidetti fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Guidetti. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Probert connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Probert jabs at Guidetti's body.
Guidetti fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Probert manages to avoid it.

Guidetti moves into the clinch successfully.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Guidetti. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Probert manages to break the clinch.
Probert works Guidetti's body with a nice hook.
Probert thuds a left hand into Guidetti's body.
The crowd cheers as Probert lands an impressive looking overhand right. Guidetti doesn't seem phased though.
Guidetti shoots in looking for a takedown but Probert manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Guidetti's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Probert scores with a nice right hand.
Probert listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Guidetti fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Probert looks to score with a jab to the body but Guidetti is just out of range.
Probert is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Guidetti had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Probert misses with a double jab

and Guidetti counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Probert wants to stand up but Guidetti is controlling him.
Guidetti lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Probert not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Probert keeping moving, preventing Guidetti from controlling successfully.
Guidetti has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Guidetti trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Guidetti controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Probert wants to stand and escape but Guidetti is having none of it.

Guidetti drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Guidetti jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Guidetti trying to control but Probert is working from the bottom.
Guidetti trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Probert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guidetti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Probert wants to get back to his feet but Guidetti is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Guidetti tries to free his leg and advance position but Probert is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Probert gets caught napping as Guidetti dives in and scores a takedown. Probert manages to retain guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sparky Probert dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Probert lands a right hook to the body.
Sparky Probert seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Probert dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Probert. Guidetti does a little dance to reset his feet.
Probert misses the shot to the body.
Probert changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Probert looks to score with a jab to the body but Guidetti is just out of range.
Probert lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Guidetti avoids the body shot from Probert.
Probert swings for the body but Guidetti moves out of range.
Guidetti fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Probert throws a sloppy body shot

and Guidetti counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Probert!

Guidetti is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Probert is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Guidetti working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Probert tries to buck Guidetti off but Guidetti is having none of it.
Guidetti could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Guidetti is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Probert is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Probert takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Guidetti is looking to take a break and control but Probert is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Probert can't do much from the bottom here.

Probert tries to escape but Guidetti is in control.

Guidetti tries for a kimura but Probert is defending well.

Guidetti is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Probert is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Probert is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Guidetti has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Guidetti wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Probert, who protects the arm well.
John Guidetti overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Probert is not content to let Guidetti control the position.

Guidetti is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Probert looks calm but he's in trouble here. Guidetti gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Probert is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Guidetti lets go of the hold and Probert can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Guidetti!
