Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Blundell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ebeneezer McCoy! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blundell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McCoy was well out of range. Poor timing from Blundell. McCoy wants to clinch but Blundell slips to the side and Blundell counters with a straight punch to the midsection. McCoy tries to clinch but Blundell is having none of it. Blundell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McCoy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Blundell misses with a wild combination.
Blundell throws a looping overhand right but McCoy ducks down to avoid it. McCoy tries to close the distance and clinch but Blundell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. McCoy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Blundell. McCoy is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McCoy moves to clinch but Blundell breaks away and McCoy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McCoy wants to clinch but Blundell slips to the side letting Blundell counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blundell throws a shot from downtown. McCoy moves away and avoids it. McCoy slips under a jab from Blundell. Blundell misses with a right hand and McCoy counters with a straight right hand. Blundell swats away the attempt to clinch by McCoy. Blundell works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. McCoy ducks under a wild hook from Blundell. Blundell misses with a hook. McCoy ducked under it nicely. McCoy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blundell. McCoy slips under a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCoy tries to clinch up but Blundell circles away and keeps his distance. McCoy tries to clinch and Blundell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Blundell swats away the attempt to clinch by McCoy. McCoy wants to clinch but Blundell slips to the side and Blundell counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Blundell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McCoy on the side of the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Blundell circles away from the clinch attempt and Blundell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McCoy is rocked! Blundell connects with a nice cross there... McCoy is looking wobbly and Blundell recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send McCoy to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Blundell jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
