Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerwazy Obuch!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes tries to clinch up.
Obuch swings widly with a right hand
and Obuch takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Obuch will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Barnes walks into a jab.
It looks like John Barnes has been cut.
Barnes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Obuch swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Obuch tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Obuch.

Barnes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Obuch throws out the jab.
Barnes throws a nice looking combination but Obuch bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Barnes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Obuch throws a wild body kick that Barnes sees coming a mile off.

Barnes lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Barnes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Obuch fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Barnes connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Obuch momentarily.

Barnes is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
A bone on bone clash there as Barnes blocks the leg kick.

Obuch throws a lazy right hand but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Obuch wants to slow Barnes down by chopping away at his legs.

Obuch has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barnes.

Obuch takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Barnes gets in close and instigates a clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Obuch is trying to break free.
Obuch goes for a takedown attempt but Barnes pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Obuch throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Barnes counter with a right hand.
The fighters circling - Obuch throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Obuch ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barnes moves away.
Obuch throws a leg kick
and Barnes counters with a nice right hand that sends Obuch toppling to the canvas! Obuch scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Barnes finish him?!
Obuch is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Obuch pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Obuch is still on wobbly legs! Can Barnes finish him?
Obuch lands with a thumping leg kick.
Barnes works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Gerwazy Obuch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barnes feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Obuch sprawling to the canvas! Obuch rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Barnes finish him?!

Obuch misses with an uppercut. Barnes saw that one coming.
Obuch tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barnes was well out of range. Poor timing from Obuch.

Barnes lands a big right hand that sends Obuch crashing to the mat! Barnes stays standing though and waves Obuch back to his feet!

Good leg kick by Barnes there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Barnes lands a big head kick that sends Obuch tumbling to the mat! Barnes takes a step backwards and waves Obuch back to his feet - he wants the finish!

BOOM! Barnes lands a beautiful left hook that drops Obuch. Obuch tries to recover but Barnes is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Obuch lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Barnes!
A relieved looking John Barnes thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
