PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Slyker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buakaw Pramuk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slyker kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is It's Amazing by Kanye West. The crowd seem to be enjoying Pramuk's choice of entrance music: Inferno Veil . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 21 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cain Slyker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Buakaw Pramuk!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slyker is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pramuk sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Slyker shoots in looking for a takedown. Pramuk tries to sprawl out of it but Slyker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pramuk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Buakaw Pramuk hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Slyker is looking to work some ground and pound but Pramuk has wrist control.
Slyker lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Slyker is in close to Pramuk's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Slyker postures up in Pramuk's guard and throws a big left but Pramuk blocks it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slyker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Buakaw Pramuk will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Pramuk feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slykers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Pramuk throws a front kick aimed at Slyker's knee but Slyker avoids it well.
Slyker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pramuk sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Slyker somewhat.

Pramuk lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Slyker shoots in and gets a takedown into Pramuk's guard.
Pramuk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slyker manages to get himself to full guard.
Pramuk wanted to stand there but Slyker had control of the position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cain Slyker.
Slyker has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pramuk.
Buakaw Pramuk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pramuk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Slyker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Buakaw Pramuk was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Slyker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Buakaw Pramuk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pramuk has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
