Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Iii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Philip Go (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Iii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Philip Go!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A clash of legs there as Go blocks the low kick.

Go looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Iii avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Go.
Go trying to control from half guard but Iii is working away.
Go controlling the action here.
Go trying to mount his opponent but Iii defends it.

Go is working for a kimura but Iii is defending it quite comfortably.
Go is trying to control. Iii wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Iii is trying to stand back up but Go is controlling him
Go content to control rather than advance.
Iii looks like he's trying to stand up.
Iii is looking to improve his position.
Go is thwarting Iii's attempts to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Philip Go.
Iii walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Go checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Go closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Iii's guard.
Iii wants to sweep but no luck.
Go stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Iii swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Go trying to control the position from guard on top but Iii is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Iii has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Go can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Iii wants to sweep here but Go controlling him for the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because John Iii wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Iii misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Iii lands a high kick!
Iii feints and then cracks Go's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Go down.
Iii throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Go's waist but Go gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Iii off to one side.
Iii stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Iii wants it to stay on the feet.
Iii throws a combination. Go tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Nice body kick there by Iii.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Iii misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Iii shoots in but Go avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Iii. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Go tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Iii will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Iii loads up on a big right hand but Go slips the punch.
Go tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Iii paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Iii gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Go to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Iii is trying to hold Go in close to prevent damage but Go has managed to pass into half guard.
Go thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Iii's head.
Iii moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Go is breathing heavily.

Go postures up.
Go trying to control but Iii is working from the bottom.
Go wants to get up but he can't break Iii's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Iii wants to sweep but no luck.

John Iii has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Go shoots in and drives through. Iii sprawls well.
John Iii is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Go fails in his attempt to clinch.
Iii tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Go manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Go avoids the body shot from Iii.
Go stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Go wants it to stay on the feet.

Nice sprawl there from Go as Iii shoots in.

and Go counters with a single leg into guard. Iii didn't expect that.
Go with a flurry of punches that miss.
Go wants to pass the guard but Iii is keeping the position.
Go keeps trying to improve his position.

Iii keeping moving, preventing Go from controlling successfully.
Iii wants to stand and escape but Go is having none of it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Iii is on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Iii trying to control the position from guard on top but Go is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Go thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Iii in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but John Philip Go will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Go throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Iii closes this distance looking for a takedown but Go circles away.

Go steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Iii.

Go fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Go takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Iii tries to pull guard but Go holds him up against the cage and eventually Iii drops back down to his feet.

Go's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Go looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
John Iii is winning the standup battle so far.
Iii shoots for a takedown but Go saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Iii tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Go manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Go gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Iii is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Iii wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
With the fighters up against the cage, Iii throws an elbow but misses.
Iii has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Go avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
