The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherk shoots in but Showtime avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sherk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Showtime tries to avoid it but Sherk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Showtime to the ground. Showtime escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Showtime darts in trying to clinch
and Sherk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Showtime throws a sloppy head kick and Sherk moves out of range easily.
Sherk avoids the head kick by Showtime.
Showtime misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Showtime misses with a double jab
and Sherk counters with a left and a right that stings Showtime.
Showtime throws a lazy head kick
and Sherk counters with a leg kick.
Anthony Showtime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sherk is defended easily by Showtime.
Anthony Showtime has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Sherk.

Sherk drives through with a takedown into guard.
Showtime wants to stand up but Sherk is controlling him.

Sherk slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dave Sherk wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sherk throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Showtime crashing down! Showtime tries to stagger back to his feet but Sherk just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Showtime asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
